Happy National Volunteer Week! This week, we celebrate the remarkable individuals who dedicate their time and expertise to enhance the lives of others. We're particularly proud to spotlight Servando Silva, our South Texas ACO Nurse Navigator, and his wife. For over two decades, they have been actively involved in medical missions worldwide. Recently, Servando joined a team from Heal International Medical Missions on a trip to Aguadulce, Panama. Accompanied by surgeons, dentists, ophthalmologists, and other medical professionals, they provided crucial surgeries to over 900 people in a rural community with limited access to medical care, demonstrating the powerful impact of volunteerism. A heartfelt thank you to Servando and all our volunteers for truly making the world a better place! Our friends at South Texas Health System held an amazing event last weekend aimed at fighting diabetes through education and action, and we were thrilled to be a part of it! Over 150 participants engaged in expert-led presentations, free health screenings, and fun exercise classes all aimed at helping them prioritize their health and well-being. Easy lifestyle changes can effectively deter the progression of diabetes in individuals with impaired glucose tolerance. We're proud to work together to prevent, treat & beat diabetes in the Rio Grande Valley!
